Political cartoons are a great way to educate people on issues and also bring newbies onboard with Democrats. There are many ways to report on issues and stimulate political discussion and debate, but political cartoons have certain advantages over blog posts or news articles. In a world of short text messages and tweets, cartoons – with similar brevity of words and beautiful artwork - can reach many people and potential voters who are not regulars of blog posts. Cartoons convey even more information in a small number of words because, as they say, a "picture is worth a thousand words"!
And many of us believe Eric's Animal Nuz is worth remuneration for his hard work, time and investment in our community:

What is the Fundraiser for?
Eric Lewis (ericlewis0) has been publishing Animal Nuz exclusively

He invests significant time and energy in this work
His stipend from Daily Kos per episode buys a modest lunch for one
Nuz Hounds believe hard work should be recognized and rewarded
Everyone LOVES cartoons!
Political cartoons are used in classrooms because they can "promote interest in political issues, help develop students' analytical thinking skills, and encourage creativity." Cartoons can "stimulate discussion" on political issues, such as GOP BS that "voter ID law will stop massive voter fraud from happening." (cartoon at link).
Studies have shown that political humor has an important role in politics, and is a source of information on political campaigns and issues. A 2005 study showed that 48% of adults used late-night comedy shows, like The Daily Show and The Tonight Show as a "source of news on political campaigns." Certainly a better source than much of our corporate media today!
In fact, the term "bandwagon effect" with voters backing the candidate winning in polls is a "term … first used in a political cartoon" in 1884.
The power of political cartoons in our campaigns is shown by exhibits devoted to their usage in presidential campaigns over the years:
"The clout of editorial cartoons has waned, but their ability to capture complex issues inside a single box makes them some of the most accessible and revealing documents from 200-plus years of presidential campaigns. And now two exhibits, one newly opened at the National Archives and one at the Newseum, which is scheduled to open in April, in Washington, D.C., highlight their importance and intrigue. "When you go back through history and try to get the simple essence of what is going on in each campaign," says Sandy Northrop, curator of the forthcoming "Penning the Presidents" exhibit at the Newseum, "you look at political cartoons."
Eric's cartoons are funny, witty, intelligent political humor and satire that make me LOL! Fun and laughter…another reason everyone LOVES political cartoons!
Besides, how can you go wrong with a TV news show run by animals? If only people would listen to our critters!
